After spending one final night in Queenstown we said our final farewells to a few of our friends then headed north east to Christchurch. Along the way we took a few scenic stops at Lindis Pass, Lake Pukaki and Lake Tekapo.
Lake Tekapo is the second-largest of three roughly parallel lakes running north–south along the northern edge of the Mackenzie Basin in the South Island. It is part of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve where you can witness the most breath-taking night skies.
Christchurch is the largest city on the South Island and has been in the public eye recently due to its destruction from an earthquake reading 6.3 on the Richter scale.
