Milford Sound is a fiord in the south west of New Zealand’s South Island, within Fiordland National Park, Piopiotahi Marine Reserve, and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. It has been judged the world’s top travel destination in an international survey and is acclaimed as New Zealand’s most famous tourist destination.
Fortunately for us it was a beautiful sunny day when we visited, whereas the days before and after it rained continuously. That was a bonus for us but to be fair we heard from many people that even in the heavy rain it’s a stunning location, primarily because of all the additional waterfalls that appear. We’ll just have to go back when it rains then won’t we?
