We hadn’t originally planned to go to Asheville; we had hoped to visit Williamsburg to go to the Busch Gardens park there. However, in an effort to avoid double backing and also to save a bit of money we decided to head to Asheville. Ant was completely sold on the idea simply based on the volume of craft breweries in the area, over 40 in one town making it the most breweries in one town in the whole of the states.
The town has a lot to offer and we really enjoyed our time there. The town is packed full of coffee shops and bars, with lots of vegetarian and vegan restaurants to choose from. It also has a great art and music scene.
If you happen to be in the town on a Friday evening around 6pm be sure to check out the drum circle in the town square which marks the start of the evening festivities.
The town itself is nestled in amongst the Great Smoky Mountains so you have the option to take a short drive to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy nature. Sadly we didn’t have time to do this but would love to if we get the opportunity to return.
If you have the chance to visit and are vegan be sure to visit The Laughing Seed restaurant. If you fancy sampling some of the local beers head on down to The Thirsty Monk where they have an abundance of beers on tap, and there are various themed bars organised over the three different floors.
Here are a few of our favourite photos from our fleeting visit:
