The Big Trip: Driving from Boston to Philadelphia

The drive from Boston to Philadelphia was scenic but took longer than anticipated due to unexpected delays and detours.

Here is our vlog from the journey:

For those of you interested, here is the route we took (without diversions!)

Here are some fun facts from the journey!

Tolls paid:
Connecticut $1.75, we took a ticket at one booth and returned it at the next
New Jersey $12, we took a ticket at one booth and returned it at the next

States driven through:
Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey

Miles driven:
320

Time taken:
7 hours 55 minutes

Delays:
1 hour of traffic on CT-15 due to an accident at New Haven, 20 minute delay due to detour and re-finding route, 1 hour delay getting onto George Washington Bridge due to broken down lorry in our lane and delays in New Jersey due to heavy traffic

Petrol top-up:
$15

Service breaks:
We stopped for lunch at Five Guys in New Haven, also to get our bearings due to the disappearance of the detour signs!  Going off on a complete tangent, the food was great and they were playing some seriously awesome tunes!

Finally, here is a map showing the number plates we saw along the way.  We also saw Nova Scotia, but obviously that cannot be included.
