The Big Trip: Boston

Sadly we only had around a day and a half in Boston by the time the Boltbus had arrived, we’d collected our hire car and checked into our hotel.

We stayed at the Red Roof Plus in Saugus, a supposed fifteen minute drive from Boston city centre.  Unfortunately our two attempts at driving into the city both took over an hour with the addition of having to then pay for parking adding to our woes.  With a limited budget though, this was the best option for us and what it lacked in location it made up for in terms of the quality of the room.

We hired our car through Alamo and have received great service so far.  We had originally paid for an Economy Class car but was upgraded to a Full Size car for free.  We’re certainly enjoying the comforts of having a larger car; it’s literally like driving round in a sofa on wheels!

As our time was limited we decided to spend our full day in the city at the New England Aquarium, buying a combined ticket for the aquarium and a whale watching tour with Boston Harbour Cruises.

The aquarium was wonderful, providing information not only about their animals and exhibits but also about the conservation and research work the aquarium does.

If you have watched our vlog from this leg of the trip, available here if you haven’t, you will know about how the whale watching went!

Here are a few of our favourite photos from our time in Boston!
